What Our GCU Preceptor Placement Service Costs

We quote each GCU nursing student individually because no two placements are alike. Below is exactly what shapes your quote, and our simple promise: you pay when matched.

How we price, and what we are pricing

First, an honest note on scope. We are an independent, third-party preceptor and clinical-placement support service. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Grand Canyon University, and what we charge has nothing to do with GCU tuition or your program costs. We do not quote, estimate, or speak to GCU pricing; that belongs to the university. Our fee covers one thing: the work of helping you secure a qualified preceptor and a clinical site you can take to GCU’s Office of Field Experience for approval.

Because every student’s practicum is different, we give you a personalized quote rather than a fixed sticker price. We do not publish a single dollar figure here, because doing so would be misleading: the real number depends on the specifics of your placement. The drivers below are what we weigh when we build that quote.

What drives your quote

  • Your track and clinical setting. An FNP placement in local primary or family care, an AGACNP placement in an acute-care setting, and a PMHNP placement in psych and mental health each draw on different preceptor pools and different levels of effort to source.
  • Your location. Preceptor availability varies widely by region. A common specialty in a dense metro area is a different search than a hard-to-staff setting in a rural or saturated market.
  • The hours you need. All three GCU MSN nurse practitioner tracks, FNP, AGACNP, and PMHNP, require 750 hours of directly supervised clinical practice, and the scope of the placement reflects that. Other programs differ; an RN-to-BSN practicum calls for 40 clinical hours arranged locally (per GCU’s program pages), and post-master’s certificates and the DNP carry their own practicum requirements.
  • Your timeline. A search with comfortable lead time differs from an urgent one. NP students often delay graduation simply because preceptor spots fill fast and they cannot lock one in on time. The more runway you give us, the smoother the process.
  • In-person vs. virtual. We offer two service pillars: physical placement matching, which is the primary path for NP clinical hours, and a virtual practicum service for telehealth or remote settings where applicable. The two involve different sourcing work and are quoted accordingly.

Pay when matched

Our model is straightforward: you pay when matched. You are not paying us to start looking; you are paying for the outcome of being connected with a qualified preceptor and a clinical site you can submit for GCU approval.

One thing we will always be clear about: we assist, we do not guarantee. We help you identify a qualified preceptor and a GCU-approvable site, but we cannot guarantee placement, outcomes, or that GCU’s Office of Field Experience approves any particular site. GCU’s field experience specialists support setup, help with your application, confirm health and safety requirements, and ultimately approve your selected site against practicum standards. That approval is theirs to give; our job is to put a strong, qualified option in front of you.

Frequently asked questions

How much does your preceptor placement service cost?

We quote each student individually rather than posting a single price, because the real figure depends on your NP track, your location, the hours your program requires, your timeline, and whether you need an in-person or virtual placement. Contact us for a personalized, no-obligation quote.

Does your fee include GCU tuition or program costs?

No. We are an independent, third-party service and are not affiliated with or endorsed by GCU. Our fee covers only our work of helping you secure a qualified preceptor and a GCU-approvable clinical site. Tuition and program costs are entirely separate and set by the university.

When do I pay?

You pay when matched. Our fee is tied to the outcome of connecting you with a qualified preceptor and a clinical site you can submit to GCU’s Office of Field Experience for approval.

Do you guarantee placement?

No. We assist; we do not guarantee placement, outcomes, or that GCU approves any particular site. GCU’s field experience specialists support setup and must approve your selected site against practicum standards. Our role is to put a strong, qualified option in front of you.

Why is virtual priced differently from in-person?

They involve different sourcing work. Physical placement matching is the primary path for NP clinical hours, while our virtual practicum service applies to telehealth or remote settings where applicable. Each is quoted according to the effort it takes.
